Visakhapatnam: BUOYED by the overwhelming response from the farmers' leaders spearheading an agitation in the National Capital Region against farm laws enacted by the NDA Government, the trade unions of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant have decided to make their fight to stop privatisation Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited a national issue.
A day after the 'Rythu Karmika Sankharavam' organised on the beach road here under the aegis of Visakha Ukku Parirakshana Porata Samiti, the leaders have decided to undertake a 'Delhi Chalo' programme and articulate their demand before Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. They said henceforth they would make it a movement to retain public sector units in the government control instead of handing them over to private hands.
The beach road rally was attended, among others, by Ashok Dhawals, president, All India Kisan Sabha, Rakesh Tikait, spokesperson, Bharatiya Kisan Union and Dharam Pal Singh, Kisan Morcha leader. Visakha Ukku Parirakshana Porata Samiti chairmen Ch Narsinga Rao, D Adinarayana and Mantri Rajasekhar addressed the gathering.
